Rarely seen in higher MS conditions, this Capped Bust Half boasts a superb strike quality, with pleasant patina and rainbow toning throughout. Great luster adds to the overall quality of this piece.

The U.S. Half Dollar (1972 to date) was heavily used in the 20th Century and exceeded its face value in the 1960s, when the price of silver increased. The expansive list of designs includes Flowing Hair, with leaves under each wing, followed by the Draped Bust, Small Eagle Reverse and Heraldic Eagle Reverse. Capped Busts followed, with lettered edge and reeded edge. The Liberty Seated comes in five varieties - no motto above eagle, arrows at date and rays around eagle, arrows at date and no rays, motto above eagle, and arrows at date. Other Half Dollar designs include Barber (or Liberty Head), Liberty Walking, Franklin, and Kennedy.
