The Washington Quarter, minted between the years 1932 and the current year 2006, was composed of .900 silver and .100 copper. It was not until 1965, when clad coinage was introduced and the composition changed to .750 copper and .250 Nickel. The Washington Quarter, designed by John Flanagan, was intended to be a commemorative issue, marking the 200th anniversary of George Washington's birth. There are many scarce dates in the issue, but the Washington Quarters demanding the most respect among collectors and dealers are the 1932 D, the 1932 S, the 1936 D, and many of the Double Die varieties.
