The Standing Liberty Quarter was minted from 1916 to 1930 and it is composed of .900 Silver and .100 copper. The Standing, sometimes known as the scandalous quarter, was altered later in 1917 to cover Liberty's exposed breast. The obverse portrays Liberty's left arm upraised, uncovering a shield in the attitude of protection. Liberty's right hand holds the olive branch of peace. The Standing Liberty Quarter was struck in two varieties in 1917. As well as many of the scarce dates in the issue, the two most sought after, are the 1916 Standing Liberty Quarter and the 1918 8 over 7 Standing Liberty Quarter. This series was eliminated in 1930 and replaced with the Washington Quarter in 1932.
