Early Half Dollars, struck in many different varieties, were minted between the years 1794 and 1839. The Early Half Dollar Varieties consist of the Flowing Hair Half Dollar (1794-1795), the Draped Bust Half Dollar, both Small Eagle Reverse, (1796-1797), and Heraldic Eagle Reverse (1801-1807), the Capped Bust Half Dollar, Lettered Edge (1807-1836), and the Reeded Edge Half Dollar, both the Reverse "50 CENTS" (1836-1837), and the Reverse "HALF DOL." (1838-1839). Along with the rare sought after 1796 Draped Bust Half Dollar, the Early Half Dollar issues have many rare unique varieties such as over dates, re-punched dates, and many other attributes that make these coins valuable among collectors and dealers.
