Silver Commemorative coins and Gold Commemorative coins were minted from1892 to date. Commemorative coins were issue to commemorate founding cities, to mark expositions, to honor famous citizens, to honor famous presidents, and in recent years, they have been used to promote Olympic Events. Commemoratives have always been sought after among collectors and dealers, but have just been discovered in most recent years the general public. The silver and gold coins were not intended for circulation. They were intended to be sold, by certain institutions, for more than face value.
